Within this review, One of The Most Popular Xiaomi Robotic Vacuum Cleaners Will Be Considered – Bestseller Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C or, as it is also called, Xiaomi Mijia 1C (STYTJ01ZHM). I have previously reviewed this robot, but without detailed tests and with a less objective assessment. Therefore, it was decided to once again take the robot for a review and already run it around all the stands in order to compare it with the closest analogues in the future. At a cost of about 300 dollars, the device is equipped with a camera for navigation, a dry and wet cleaning function and useful functions when controlled via a mobile application. Next, I will test the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C in detail, show what it is capable of and express my own opinion on whether to buy this robot vacuum cleaner. Well, by the way, I recommend the seller on Wildbers for the purchase, which actually provided a sample for the test. So let’s move on to the review!

Specifications

The main characteristics of Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C, declared by the manufacturer:

  • Li-Ion 2400 mAh battery.
  • Suction power up to 2500 Pa.
  • Working time up to 90 min.
  • Cleaning area up to 100 sq.m.
  • The volume of the dust container is 600 ml.
  • The volume of the water tank is 200 ml.
  • Passage of obstacles up to 20 mm.
  • Dimensions: 350 * 81 mm.

Here, one should only highlight the rather weak battery, because of which this model does not have the longest operating time, when compared with the rest of the robots of the Xiaomi line. But this moment was fixed in the new Mijia 2C , a review of which is already on the site!

Functionality

Let’s move on to the overview of functions. Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C is controlled via the proprietary Mi Home app. The robot supports the Russia region, which is a plus. Connection will not cause problems, follow the manufacturer’s prompts.

App control

App control

On the main working panel, the robot vacuum cleaner builds a map of the room, stores it in memory and automatically zones it into rooms. Swiping your finger up the screen reveals functions such as starting an automatic cleaning cycle, forced return to the base for charging, adjusting the suction power and the degree of wetting of the wipe.

Application functions

Application functions

Below we see the section for setting the cleaning according to the schedule. You can select the time and days of the week when the robot should be started, as well as the suction power.

Below is the section for managing the map. Here you can set virtual walls and restricted areas on the map, rename rooms or discard the map if necessary.

Well, in addition, you can select the language of voice notifications. Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C speaks Russian.

Let’s go to the settings section. First of all, we see the experimental function of saving the card in memory. It is worth noting that when only Mijia 1C went on sale, it did not support zoning for rooms and setting restricted areas on the map, but later the developers added this functionality to compete with the Dreame F9 , which appeared later and was already equipped with these functions.

Also in the settings, you can adjust the volume of voice notifications, activate the do not disturb mode, enable or disable notifications, view the cleaning log, the status of consumables, manually control the robot and enable search by sound signal. In addition, you can change its name, share the control with other users and update the firmware if necessary.

By the way, additionally on the map you can set cleaning zones or even choose the necessary rooms where the robot should clean up.

In principle, the main functionality is laid down. In addition, the device supports management via Yandex Alice, which is a plus. But what is missing is an automatic increase in power when driving on carpets, the function of resuming cleaning after recharging at the base, as well as the ability to set up cleaning according to a schedule in the desired rooms. This is when compared with competitors.

First of all, let’s check the navigation of the Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C in a room with obstacles. First, the robot vacuum cleaner passes the entire available area with a snake, then along the perimeter. It didn’t get stuck on the dryer, but it didn’t sweep separately around the chair legs and the box. Navigation is not the best, from chamber robots, but there are no special complaints either. The main thing is that there were no uncleaned areas and the robot returned to the base for charging without any problems.

Navigating within a room

Navigating within a room

As for navigation within the house, the robot cleans room by room with a snake, after which it moves on to cleaning the perimeter of the entire available area and returns to the base. Navigation is standard.

Suction power

In terms of suction power, the Mijia 1C was only able to suck out debris from a 2mm deep slot. He has a standard suction power and it is enough to automatically maintain cleanliness in a domestic environment.

Dry cleaning on laminate

There are no complaints about the quality of dry cleaning on hard surfaces. The robot vacuum cleaner was able to pick up wool, hair, small debris and even cat food and litter from the floor. There is only a little debris left in the corners, from which round robots cannot sweep, and in a small area near the corners. Most of the debris is collected in a dust collector, some of the hair is wrapped around the brushes. Test passed successfully!

Cleaning the carpet

The quality of carpet cleaning is also slightly above average. The robot was able to pick up debris from the carpet, no special remarks.

Wet cleaning

And wet cleaning in this model is implemented adequately. The robot vacuum cleaner was able to wipe off a little dried dirt from the floor, while leaving no streaks. He did not wipe a small area along the plinth, like all the analogs that I had in my review. So in terms of the quality of wet cleaning, it is at the level of most other robots in the Xiaomi line.

Wet cleaning

Wet cleaning

In addition, it is important to note that Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C is capable of simultaneously vacuuming and washing the floor, which is a plus.

Passage of obstacles

The obstacle passability of this robot is good, it is able to run over a 2 cm sill.

Passage of obstacles

Passage of obstacles

Passage of dark surfaces

But the robot is afraid of dark coatings, recognizing them by differences in height. This is a problem with most of the Xiaomi robotic vacuum cleaners and must be taken into account.

Noise level

And finally, we measure the noise level of Xiaomi Mijia 1C in different modes. At the minimum power, it is in the range of 58-60 dB. In standard mode it reaches 61 dB, in Turbo mode the noise level rises to 66 dB, and at maximum power the peak value was 73 dB. Yes, this robot is noisy despite the standard suction power.

Summing up

Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Mop 1C has been reviewed and tested in detail. According to our rating system, he was able to score 57 out of 100 points . This is a good result considering the price. For understanding, the upgraded Mijia 2C scored 3 points more thanks to some modifications by the manufacturers.

What can I say about Mijia 1C after all the tests? For this money, from the positive aspects it is worth highlighting:

  1. Camera-based navigation.
  2. Automatic zoning of premises into rooms.
  3. Support for virtual walls and restricted areas.
  4. Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
  5. The quality of cleaning is above average.
  6. Low body height.
  7. Voice notifications in English.
  8. Yandex.Alisa support.
  9. Optimal price.

Among the shortcomings I would like to highlight:

  1. Weak battery.
  2. Fear of dark floor coverings.
  3. When setting up a schedule, rooms cannot be selected.
  4. Increased noise level.
  5. Meager equipment.

In general, the disadvantages are not critical, and if you choose a robot vacuum cleaner with a wet cleaning function for an area of no more than 80 square meters, while the budget does not exceed $300, this robot will be quite the best option. Especially if the price is up to 300 dollars. Of course, in 2021 it already has enough competitors when compared to 2019, when it went on sale. Nevertheless, the reviews about this model are mostly positive and over the entire period of its existence on the market, the robot has won the trust of a large audience. So I see no good reason not to recommend it. In addition, compared to the updated Mijia 2C, the first model supports the EU/US region and speaks English, which is important for many.
