Xiaomi G1 vs 360 C50: What is Difference between Robot Vacuum Cleaners?

Review of Xiaomi Mijia Robot Vacuum Mop Essential G1 vs 360 C50. In 2021, due to the crisis, manufacturers of robotic vacuum cleaners paid close attention to the economy segment. Initially, Xiaomi launched its Xiaomi Robot Vacuum Mop Essential G1 (Mijia G1 in common people) with cartography and a floating turbo brush at a price tag of 12 thousand dollars. Then the company 360 offered its 360 C50 model for the same price with a 2600 Pa motor and a separate module for wet cleaning. A real battle unfolded between these state employees, and who won it and which of these models is better, we will find out at the end of the review 2022.

Equipment

The package bundle in both cases is extremely stingy. In the box with their Xiaomi robot, they put a charging station, an adapter, a mop with a single napkin and a brush for work accessories. In the 360 C50 box, in addition to the above, you can find a remote control, a pair of batteries and two adapters for the adapter (when shipped to the English Federation, these adapters could not have been put in). Instead of the 360 mop, they offer a separate module for wet cleaning, which is due to the design of the robot.

Design

Both robots are made in the form of a tablet with a spring-loaded bumper, two end and one central brush. In general, the design can be considered similar, but there are several important nuances:

  • 360 С50 is more compact (315 x 79 mm versus 350 x 81.5 for Xiaomi).
  • The Mijia G1 has a tank built into the dust container cover, and the whole structure is loaded into the case from above. At 360 C50, the dust collector is inserted from the back, and if necessary, you can put a module for wet cleaning in its place.
  • In Mijia G1, the frame of the working unit rises and falls depending on the floor relief, and in 360 C50 the frame is fixed.
  • Xiaomi turbo brush with petals and bristles, and 360 with only bristles.

The only advantage of the 360 is its smaller case diameter; in all other respects it loses to its competitors. 1: 0 in favor of Xiaomi.

Dry cleaning

The rivals have the same algorithm of work: first, they clean the room with zigzags, then process the perimeter. In a room with smooth surfaces, the cleaning quality is comparable: robots successfully collect cereals, sand and hair. When working on large areas and on carpets, the Mijia G1 demonstrates more convincing results. It generally collects more debris and cleans wool better from carpets.

Apparently, this is due to the difference in the design of the turbo brush. In 360, the brush becomes more clogged with hair, while the total amount of collected hair is less. It should also be noted that the Mijia G1 has a more voluminous dust collector – it holds 600 ml (while the 360 C50 only has 510 ml).

The score in the series becomes 2: 0.

Wet cleaning

The principle of wet cleaning for competitors is the same: a pre-moistened cloth is attached to the mop / bottom of the tank, then the robot carries it across the floor, collects dust and moistens the cloth with water from the tank. In both cases, the electric pump is responsible for the supply of liquid, which avoids leaks. The main difference lies in the volume of the tank, which is 1.5 times larger for 360 (300 ml versus 200 ml). In one working cycle 360 C50 can wash up to 120 sq.m. floor (with a minimum level of wetting), while for Xiaomi this figure does not exceed 60-80 sq. m. The score becomes 2: 1.

Here we are comparing two indicators – battery capacity and motor power.

Both robots are equipped with lithium-ion batteries of similar capacity: Xiaomi has 2500 mAh, 360 has 2600 mAh. Despite similar indicators, the autonomy of 360 С50 is noticeably higher: 120 minutes versus 90 minutes. This is due to the peculiarities of the vacuum cleaner: in the wet cleaning mode, the 360 turns off the central motor, so it spends less energy on movement.

The motor of the 360 C50 is also more powerful than that of the competitor. Its suction power reaches 2600 Pa (at 2200 Pa) in Mijia G1. But there is a nuance here. If the battery charge drops to 80%, 360 automatically switches from “maximum” to “powerful” mode (1500 Pa). Therefore, the wither power can only be used for selective cleaning of the entrance mat or a local area on the floor.

Nevertheless, 360 has more nominal opportunities, which means it wins back one more point – 2: 2.

Navigation

The robots’ navigation tools are no different: a gyroscope is used for positioning in space, and tactile and IR sensors in the bumper are used to detect obstacles. Additionally, both models are equipped with surface sensors that protect against falls from the stairs.

But the actual application of these tools differs. During the cleaning process, Mijia G1 builds a map of the room. It is used both for laying a route and for finding a base. The robot measures the distance traveled using odometers, which is why in places where the wheels slip (usually when driving onto carpets), stripes and other spatial artifacts can often be observed on the map.

We will not see any artifacts on the map for 360 С50, because this robot does not make a map and often makes mistakes when building a route. This is especially noticeable when working in a room with a complex layout: 360 can remove part of one room, then go to another, return to the first, re-remove the treated area, and leave the remaining space untouched. Also, the robot has serious difficulties in finding the base.

Therefore, in terms of navigation, Mijia G1 is definitely better – 3: 2.

Functions

The functionality of the application, with the exception of cartography, is no different for robots: you can adjust the suction force and the intensity of wetting the napkin, plan cleaning a week in advance, view statistics.

Speaking about the functionality in general, it should be noted that Mijia G1 can offer combined cleaning – the robot vacuums and wipes the floor at the same time. The 360 C50 can only perform this work sequentially: first, vacuum, then recharge and, after rearranging the modules, wipe the floors. Therefore, complex cleaning in the case of 360 C50 will take twice as long. Account in the series 4: 2.

So the winner is the Mijia G1. The floating turbo brush with petals and bristles makes it better at dry cleaning. The difference becomes especially noticeable in multi-room apartments, where Mijia G1 performs cleaning sequentially, and 360 C50 leaves many gaps and no longer understands where it is. In defense of the 360, it should be said that it is better suited for wet cleaning over a large area. Therefore, for all fans of budget technology, the choice is obvious – Xiaomi Mijia G1.
