Review New E-Ink Temperature and Humidity Sensor Xiaomi Digital Temperature and Humidity Monitor 2022. Completion and appearance
The compact package contains a user manual, a sensor and two plates for mounting it on a horizontal surface or wall.
On the right side of the body there is a single button for connecting to a smart home and switching parameters on a display with electronic ink. Above and behind, there are openings for air access to the high-precision sensor of the Swiss company Sensirion. Temperature and humidity are displayed to one decimal place in the range of 0 to 60 ° C and 0 to 99.9% RH relative humidity.
The digital temperature and humidity monitor will turn on immediately after removing the protective seal of the battery. The 35 × 35mm display with electronic ink shows temperature and humidity, as well as a graphic smiley that signals the quality of these values. When connected to a sensor, the Bluetooth symbol is displayed. If the battery is close to full discharge, a corresponding indication will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Xiaomi promises that the 3V CR2450 battery will last for 2 years. This is achieved through a combination of an e-ink display and Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy.
If you press a single button on the case twice, you can choose which priority will be displayed on the display with the largest numbers: temperature or humidity.
Connection and setup in Mi Home
So far, the sensor works only in the China region. If you want to add it to any other region, including EU-US, before official support starts, use the modified Mi Home client from Vevs.
To turn on the connection mode, you need to hold down the button on the case until the Bluetooth symbol appears on the display.
Every time you open the sensor widget in the Mi Home app, it will offer to sync with it with a single press of the button on the case. This is only needed if you want to see the values in real time. The rest of the time, the sensor transmits values through the gateway on average every 3 minutes.
The charts on the main screen display the history of values for the last 24 hours. If you go deeper, then the minimum and maximum values for the day during the month or for each of the last 6 months will be available.
In automations, the sensor works only as a condition: if the temperature or humidity drops below or, on the contrary, exceeds the values you set in half a degree or half a percent increments.
A new child mode has been added to the sensor settings. If you turn it on, then the device via the Bluetooth gateway will send notifications to your smartphone when the temperature value goes out of the range from 20 to 24 ° C or the humidity is out of the range from 45 to 70%. It is believed that in the period from 0 to 3 years, these air parameters are ideal for a child.
Also in the settings, you can change the optimal range for the graphic smile on the screen. The default values are between 19 and 27 ° C and 20 to 85% RH. Here you can turn on the display of temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.
In addition, I will say that the new E-ink air monitor can still be placed on a refrigerator or a steel door without gluing an additional plate. Its display is easy to read from any even the most acute angle, unlike models with an LCD screen.
The digital temperature and humidity monitor is already on sale with free shipping in Chinese marketplaces. The retail price in China at the official sites of Xioami is 59 yuan.
