Roidmi first announced itself in 2015, having received funding from the company of Xiaomi founder Lei Jun 2022. Access to resources and support from “Chinese Apple” has given Roidmi the opportunity to intensively develop new products that have won a number of design awards. Now the company produces mainly hand-held cordless vacuum cleaners, but in 2022, Roidmi Eve Plus washing robot vacuum cleaner appeared in its portfolio.

The robot is not simple, but with a modern navigation system and a dust collection station, thanks to which the bin does not need to be cleaned after each cleaning. And as usual with Roidmi products, Eve Plus has a very nice design. But they are greeted by clothes and seen off by the mind, so read about the new product later in this review.
Packaging and equipment
This robot vacuum cleaner can be supplied in two configurations: with a simple charging station (Roidmi Eve), or with a dust collection base that also acts as a charger (Roidmi Eve Plus). I had the Eve Plus package and it comes in a hefty box, three times the size of the usual packaging for robotic vacuum cleaners.
Inside there are two separate boxes in which you can find a robot vacuum cleaner and a dust collection base. Packaging with high-quality printing lists the main “chips” of devices. The box with the vacuum cleaner is two-tiered, the accessories are placed in the upper tier, the vacuum cleaner itself is in the lower tier. The box with the base is simpler, in it all the accessories are folded into a separate box. I note that the whole set is very well protected from damage during transportation.
Roidmi Eve Robot Vacuum Cleaner comes with:
- removable nozzle for wet cleaning and reusable cloth
- 10 disposable wet cleaning cloths
- 2 HEPA filters, one already installed in the vacuum cleaner, the second spare
- user manual (there is a section in Russian) and a manual for pairing the robot vacuum cleaner with a smartphone and / or smart home system
Included with the base you can find:
- detachable power cord
- 5 dust bags, one of them is already installed in the base
- brush knife for cleaning the vacuum cleaner and cutting off tangled hair
In general, the delivery set is generous, there is everything you need. Unless you could put more disposable rags.
Appearance and design
The Roidmi Eve robot vacuum cleaner looks elegant and neat, this also applies to the base in the Roidmi Eve Plus package. The contrasting combination of black and white colors is not only pretty but also practical: fingerprints and dust marks are almost invisible on the white surface. Sensor holes, air vents, front bumper are successfully integrated into the design of the device.
On the top panel of the vacuum cleaner, the lidar turret catches the eye. The upper part of the turret is made push-to-press – it is understood that if the robot enters under the furniture and the button is pressed there, then there is not enough height for passage and it’s time to get back out so as not to get stuck under the sofa or closet. Also at the top of the robot there are three buttons: a button for cleaning in a certain area, a power button and start cleaning, a charge button to return the robot to the charging station. But I assume that most users will control the device from a smartphone. But the switchable LED indicator in the central button is a useful thing. Less likely to stumble upon a robot in the dark.
The front bumper, on duty, often encounters obstacles, so a strip of elastic foam is glued to it. It protects both the vacuum cleaner itself and interior items from collisions. There are also three windows of obstacle detection sensors on the bumper, one of which is a ToF sensor. With such a sensor, the vacuum cleaner should be able to better detect obstacles and plan a route more efficiently, leaving fewer uncleaned areas.
On the opposite side, access to the dust collector, combined with a water tank, opens. Two recesses are visible in the translucent body of the dust collector. To remove the dust collector, you need to press on the latch in the upper recess. A valve is built into the bottom recess, it only opens when the robot is parked on the base. Through this valve, the debris from the dust collector enters the base for collecting debris. The valve is securely fixed and does not open when manipulating the dust collector. On the sides are two contacts for charging the battery. An inconspicuous Reset button is built into the array of vents. The washing nozzle with a rag is fixed under the dust collector; to remove it, you need to pull the two latches.
In the water compartment, you can see a miniature pump, which manages the supply of water to wet the rag. The liquid is poured through a gray rubber plug. The manufacturer warns that the water must be clean, without additional detergents and other “chemistry”.
The two drive wheels are equipped with “toothy” rubber treads. With this rubber pattern, the robot vacuum cleaner overcomes thresholds and other obstacles of reasonable height more confidently. The third wheel in the form of a sphere rotates freely in any direction and acts as a support during movement. Two contact pads for charging are placed next to the support wheel; they are used by robots equipped with a simple charging station. Next to the side brushes and the central wheel, you can see four black recesses – they contain height sensors, with their help the vacuum cleaner avoids falls from steps, high thresholds and other height differences.
The Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner has two side brushes, which is its advantage over its sister Lydsto R1 model with one brush. To remove the side brushes, you need a screwdriver, but the central brush can be removed without additional tools. The compartment with the central brush is movable and can move up and down a few millimeters. With this attachment, the brush cleans uneven surfaces and joints better. The central brush is combined and includes both three rows of medium hard bristles and three rows of silicone protrusions. There is a hole in the brush compartment through which the debris is sucked into the dust collector.
The dust collector is combined with a water tank; a nozzle for a wet cleaning cloth is attached to its lower part. If only dry cleaning is required, it is better to remove the duster attachment. The vacuum cleaner detects the presence of a nozzle, and if it is installed, it becomes possible to turn on wet cleaning in the application. Since the vacuum cleaner is parked on the base for dust collection by the stern, to remove the dust collector, you need to remove the vacuum cleaner from the base. You can empty the dust bin manually by removing the HEPA filter and emptying the trash can. The filter and the dust collector must be washed periodically, before being installed in the vacuum cleaner, they must be completely dried. It’s good that there is an additional HEPA filter in the kit.
The base station provides a niche into which the robot vacuum cleaner drives in to recharge and collect dust. This is a well-thought-out design solution: Roidmi Eve Plus takes up less space on the floor than Lydsto R1.
In the niche there is a socket for collecting dust and two spring-loaded contacts for charging. A little higher, two infrared sensors are displayed that help the robot park correctly at the base station. Instead of an uninformative LED indicator, a full-fledged LCD screen is built into the base station, according to which you can check key indicators (battery charge, Wi-Fi connection, read error codes), and by clicking on the screen you can start collecting dust.
On the back of the base station, there is a power cord connector, a rating plate (including power and fuse type), an array of air outlets and a hatch for access to the garbage collection path. If the path becomes clogged over time, it can be cleaned through the hatch. At the base of the base there are wide rubber feet for stability on any floor covering.
A lid on the top of the base gives access to a compartment with a trash bag. To remove the filled bag, you need to pull the plastic latch, which is built into the cardboard mouth of the bag. This will close the latch and prevent debris from spilling out of the bag.
In addition to the trash bag in the compartment, you can find a brush knife for cleaning the vacuum cleaner from wound hair. At the base of the compartment there is a removable filter with a fine mesh, it protects the turbine from dust. The most interesting thing here is an inconspicuous air ionizer. It turns on after collecting dust and cleans the air in the dust collector compartment. The ionizer is quite a necessary feature, given that the dust bag is large and can be filled with garbage gradually over a month or even longer, and wet dust and debris can also get into it, because the robot vacuum cleaner is washing. So that the stale wet dust does not begin to “bloom and smell”, mold, an ionizer is useful and this model has it. The service life of the ionizer is declared at 1000 hours.
Management, Mi Home
The Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner supports control both through the proprietary Roidmi application and through Mi Home. Given the identical functionality, I chose Mi Home. The first pairing of a smartphone, a wireless router and a robot vacuum cleaner took several minutes and generally went as per the instructions that came with the vacuum cleaner. After that, you can start the first cleaning so that the vacuum cleaner builds a map of the room. Before the first cleaning, it is advisable to position the base as it will stand in the future, do not move it.
After the first cleaning, the vacuum cleaner will draw a map that will be visible in the smartphone application. The robot vacuum cleaner not only builds a map of the room, but also divides it into separate rooms. In automatic mode, the separation does not always happen correctly: my robot combined the bedroom, loggia, living room and part of the corridor into one room (segment); assigned the other part of the corridor to another room; kitchen and a small section of the corridor appointed the third segment. In this case, the rooms can be marked manually, it is even desirable to do this, because the robot cleans based on each individual room. At first, the robot vacuum cleaner cleans near the base, then it starts to bypass the nearest room along the perimeter, then it moves in a “snake” until it vacuums the entire room. Then he moves on to the next room, where the perimeter->snake algorithm is repeated.
Rooms can be combined or divided by setting boundaries between segments in the app. If there are rooms or areas in the house that the robot vacuum cleaner should not enter, then you can install a restricted area or a virtual wall. I ended up with several such zones, but more on that below. In each separate room, you can adjust the suction power and the intensity of the water supply to the rag, or turn off the water supply altogether. So in a room with carpet and tiles, you can set the maximum suction power and the average water supply; in a room with parquet, reduce the suction power and turn off the water supply altogether. You can set the order of cleaning in different rooms, cleaning only in one or several rooms. If the house is multi-storey, the application has the ability to draw a map for each floor separately.
Suction power has four different modes, differing in noise, efficiency and battery charge consumption; Three modes are provided to change the intensity of water supply. You can turn on the herringbone wet cleaning when the vacuum cleaner moves along a Y-shaped path instead of a snake. There is a double cleaning mode, when the vacuum cleaner passes over the entire map twice.
The “Radar Priority” option assigns the lidar as the main sensor for detecting obstacles. So the vacuum cleaner runs into obstacles less, but also goes around them at a greater distance, while small uncleaned areas may remain. In “Carpet blowing mode” the vacuum cleaner recognizes carpets (not all and not always) and automatically increases the suction power while driving over the carpet. The option for the LED indicator turns on the backlight of the power button, which begins to flicker smoothly with an unobtrusive white backlight. In fact, a useful option, reduces the risk of stumbling upon a vacuum cleaner in the dark.
Some buyers advise turning on the dust collection only after dry cleaning, and after wet cleaning, empty the dust box manually. The reason is that damp dust can form deposits in the nozzles of the base station over time. Therefore, in the application, you can specify how often the dust should be collected automatically: after each cleaning or less frequently. You can generally turn off automatic dust collection, then the collection can be started manually by pressing your finger on the screen of the base station.
Cleaning can be started with a button on the lid of the vacuum cleaner, through an application on a smartphone, or you can automate the start of cleaning on certain days at a specified time. If cleaning of the whole house is not required, you can specify separate rooms for cleaning. But the cleaning mode (power of dry / wet cleaning) is not set for each individual room, but for the entire task. The menu item “Cleaning record” contains data on all cleaning sessions, the area cleaned, the time spent, the map and the route traveled.
Consumables require regular cleaning and periodic replacement. Therefore, the application has an item “Accounting for consumables.” In it, the resource of the filter and brushes is displayed as a percentage. So, after 333 m², covered in more than a dozen cleanings, the resource of the HEPA filter is indicated as 95%, the resource of the side brushes and the middle brush is 96-97%. It is clear that the actual resource can be more or less, and the displayed values are only indicative and are calculated according to some algorithm. But even such monitoring allows us not to forget that the robot vacuum cleaner also requires care and cleaning. After replacing consumables, resource indicators can be reset, they will return to 100%.
In the “Voice and volume” menu item, you can set the language in which the vacuum cleaner reports its status. There is a female Russian-language voice acting, there is not yet a popular “leather” voice acting for this model of a robot vacuum cleaner. I note that the “voice” of the vacuum cleaner is very loud, in a two-room apartment there is no need to set the volume above 20%. If the vacuum cleaner is lost in a big house, then you can click on the menu item “Positioning the robot vacuum cleaner” so that Roidmi Eve Plus says the phrase “I’m here.”
“Remote control mode” is provided. In this mode, cursor buttons appear on the smartphone screen. By clicking on them, you can bring the robot vacuum cleaner to the area in the house that needs cleaning, then you need to press the power button so that the vacuum cleaner starts cleaning in a small area measuring 1.5×1.5 meters. After pressing the “Charge” button, the vacuum cleaner will stop cleaning the area and return to the base.
Exploitation
Before starting operation, I updated the firmware of the robot vacuum cleaner from the factory version 0.7.6_2265 to version 0.8.1_2281, the latest one that was available in Mi Home at the time of writing the review. At that time, the Roidmi proprietary application had a more recent version 2359, but due to mixed user reviews, I was in no hurry to update. For such an intelligent device stuffed with various sensors, the “maturity” of the firmware is very important and updating to the latest versions does not always make sense.
After the first cleaning, it became clear that the robot vacuum cleaner competently plans a route and moves according to an intelligent algorithm (not chaotically), but human intervention and manual editing of the map will be required at first. To begin with, I manually marked out individual rooms, because automatic layout does not always correctly determine where one room ends and another begins. Now you can start cleaning in a single room and the vacuum cleaner will not travel outside it.
It turned out that Roidmi Eve Plus has good cross-country ability, but the vacuum cleaner sometimes overestimates its strength. So, in my apartment there are thresholds of different heights, and if a robot drives into an obstacle 1.7 cm high almost without a hitch, then a threshold 3 cm high turns out to be too tough for him. But the vacuum cleaner leaves him, and when he returns to drive back, he does not succeed, although he diligently continues to try. Everything was decided by the fact that I put a small restricted area on a high threshold. Now the vacuum cleaner just bypasses it.
The restroom also has a relatively high threshold, and I did not want the vacuum cleaner to clean there, so I put a virtual wall in the daytime opening of the restroom. Now the vacuum cleaner correctly goes around the restroom, a few centimeters from the threshold. At the front door I have a high rug with hard pile, such a pile can damage the damp cleaning cloth that comes with the vacuum cleaner. Therefore, I installed another restricted area on the area of the front door and the rug.
In general, the Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner has its own “character”. He gently but persistently pushes the ajar door and drives into a new room, is not afraid to drive behind the curtains and curtains, stubbornly tries to overcome small interior items of complex shape. I have a folded clothes dryer on my balcony, leaning against the wall. The vacuum cleaner constantly pushes and moves it, sometimes it falls to the floor. A similar story with a metal coat hanger. The hanger stands on three small inclined legs, the vacuum cleaner constantly runs into them and sometimes gets stuck, and in an attempt to move off the hanger (more often successful) it can overturn it. Probably the legs of the hanger are located below the level of the lidar, so he does not see them and they are too thin for the wall sensor to detect them. Therefore, the legs are “invisible” to the vacuum cleaner, as I assume. Fortunately, on hangers,
One of the rooms has a glass TV stand, its bottom shelf is located at a height of about 7.9-8 cm (seen in the photo). As it turned out, at such a height, the bumper of the vacuum cleaner sometimes does not rest against the shelf (as it should), but slips under it, as a result, the vacuum cleaner partially drives under the shelf, gets stuck under it and cannot get back on its own. You have to pause cleaning in the application, get the robot manually and resume cleaning.
Acoustic stands are located on the sides of the TV stand. The distance between the shelf (TV) and the stand for acoustics is approximately 36-36.5 cm. The robot vacuum cleaner most often vacuums completely in this niche, but several times it did not enter it completely and left part of it uncleaned. In fairness, it should be noted that the diameter of the robot itself is 34 cm, so that it is able to clean even where the places for it are literally back to back. Roidmi Eve Plus confidently cleans under the cabinet, which stands on legs 10.5 cm high, almost flush with the height of the robot itself (seen in the photo).
One of the rooms has an office chair with cross legs. The vacuum cleaner always correctly circled these legs, but once managed to drive under the cross and get stuck there.
When the robot vacuum cleaner Roidmi Eve Plus moves along a flat wall, it usually adjoins it almost closely, leaving no dust on the baseboards. But one thing is a flat wall and another thing is an obstacle of a complex shape like soft sofas, ledges and roundings of furniture. Often the robot vacuum cleaner does not adjoin closely to the sofa and goes around the legs of the sofa at a distance greater than necessary. The result – a small part of the dust near the sofa remains uncleaned (seen in the photo). Usually the navigation of the robot can be praised, there are simply interior items that electronics and sensors do not always process correctly and do not always notice.
The Roidmi Eve Plus vacuum cleaner has a useful function to increase the suction power when the vacuum cleaner drives over the carpet. The idea is that by increasing the suction power from the carpet, it will be possible to collect more dust, and on flat floors, the power can be reduced to the standard one, where the dust is collected so well. Apparently, the vacuum cleaner determines by the resistance of the movement of the main brush what is on the carpet. But it works with carpets that have lint, and my lint-free matting doesn’t offer enough resistance to brush movement, so the feature almost never came on. For a couple of dozen cleanings on a lint-free carpet, the suction power increased a couple of times and literally for a few seconds. At the same time, the capabilities of Roidmi Eve Plus are enough to keep such a carpet clean.
For high-quality dusting in the “dry” mode, the standard suction power is enough when it comes to flat floors and lint-free carpets. For carpets, high-pile carpets, and beveled parquet, two more powerful suction modes will come in handy. I note that even with maximum suction power, the vacuum cleaner makes a noticeable, but moderate noise, approximately like a conventional vacuum cleaner at minimum power. In the standard mode, the noise is low, in the quiet mode, Roidmi Eve Plus really becomes quiet, the turbine starts to work quieter than the wheels of the robot when moving. At the same time, the quality of dust removal also decreases from very good to quite good. In most cases, it is worth leaving the standard mode, as a balance between the noise level and the quality of dust removal (very high).
Now about wet cleaning. The complete cloth resembles microfiber, with a low pile and not too thick weave. It is attached to the wet cleaning module with Velcro and eyelets. I note that during cleaning, the eye can sometimes (rarely) partially come off the module, this can be seen in one of the photos. By installing a cloth on the module, and the module on the dust collector, you can hear a voice notification that the robot vacuum cleaner is ready for wet cleaning. Now in the application you can choose not only the suction power, but also the degree of dampening of the cloth (3 levels) and start wet cleaning.
Vacuum cleaner sometimes leaves wet
streaks
During wet cleaning, the vacuum cleaner can sometimes leave wet streaks instead of a uniform wet mark, this can be seen in the photo. If the vacuum cleaner gets stuck somewhere during cleaning, then it tries to get out for some time (usually successfully), if it fails, it stops cleaning and tries to return to the base. This is the correct behavior, but there is a nuance that during its attempts to get out, the vacuum cleaner constantly rotates in a small area and a damp rag continuously wets the floor all this time. As a result, when the vacuum cleaner gets out of the “trap”, the floor in this place can be very wet (not a puddle, but wet). Owners of wooden floors should take this moment into account and put restricted areas on all difficult places or change their interior so that the vacuum cleaner cannot get stuck.
stains on the floor before wet cleaning
stains on the floor after wet cleaning
For effective wet cleaning of stubborn dirt, you need a rag with a thick and high pile, high downforce and special cleaning products. Considering that only clean water can be added to the Roidmi Eve Plus tank (without any household chemicals), a complete “lightweight” cloth and a relatively small weight of the robot vacuum cleaner, Roidmi Eve Plus cannot wash persistent and medium pollution. It can cope with light stains, but it depends on the nature of the dirt. So, greasy spots specially applied before wet cleaning remained after cleaning (seen in the photo), but became a little less pronounced.
At the same time, wet cleaning in Roidmi Eve Plus is by no means a useful feature. With it, the robot vacuum cleaner collects dust even more efficiently, and subjectively, after wet cleaning, the feeling of cleanliness is more persistent 🙂 According to my observations, for the most effective cleaning, you should first start dry cleaning, and then install a rag, fill in water and start wet cleaning. I came up with the following cleaning algorithm: run dry cleaning every other day, and once a week run the “dry + wet” cleaning combo.
When wet cleaning with a “snake”, the route of the vacuum cleaner is built in such a way that a wet rag passes about half of the path previously cleaned. That is, the paths overlap about half, while in dry cleaning they do not overlap.
After the end of wet cleaning, the vacuum cleaner notifies you with a voice that you need to remove the rag to clean it. The manual also says to empty the water tank after wet cleaning so that the vacuum doesn’t leave a puddle. However, after wet cleaning, the Roidmi Eve Plus vacuum cleaner is parked for charging as usual, with a cloth inside the charging station. After wet cleaning, the rag is usually very wet, but this does not lead to problems, because the charging contacts are located above the rag. However, in the next firmware, it is possible to make a mode in which the vacuum cleaner does not immediately drive into the dust collection station, but stops in front of it so that the user can remove the wet rag and manually put the vacuum cleaner on the base. Or another mode in which you can allocate a place in the apartment to stop the vacuum cleaner after wet cleaning, where puddles are not terrible (on a tile).
I note that after wet cleaning, I only remove the cloth and the wet cleaning module for cleaning and drying, but I do not drain the water from the tank in the robot vacuum cleaner. At the same time, water does not dig in, with a short stop (several days) it is dry under the vacuum cleaner.
Battery charge consumption in different cleaning modes, on an area of 24 m²:
Dry cleaning, maximum power – 22%, 28 minutes;
Dry cleaning, standard power – 12%, 29 minutes;
Dry cleaning, minimum power – 7%, 28 minutes;
Wet cleaning, medium wetting, standard power – 15%, 31 minutes;
Wet cleaning, maximum wetting, maximum power – 23%, 30 minutes.
findings
The Roidmi Eve Plus robot vacuum cleaner is a model with a modern navigation system and high cleaning quality, subject to regular cleaning. The model is new and when updating the firmware, the algorithms can change and improve, so the behavior of the vacuum cleaner can also change over time. But even now, Roidmi Eve Plus helps me keep my house clean. I will continue to use this robot vacuum cleaner and will update this review as needed.
There are a number of places in my apartment that took the robot vacuum cleaner by surprise, but in general, this model has competent and efficient navigation. Roidmi Eve Plus is characterized by high traffic, high-quality dust collection and a very functional smartphone application in which you can configure the cleaning map in detail. Wet cleaning improves the quality of cleaning even more, but Roidmi Eve Plus cannot compete with specialized washing vacuum cleaners. However, the dust collection system with ionization (actually working) is a very interesting feature in the middle price segment, which is usually found in models that are noticeably more expensive, so Roidmi Eve Plus deserves attention. The robot vacuum cleaner can be found for sale both on Ozon and Yandex.Market. The manufacturer’s website is available at this link.
