Appearance

The main space is occupied by a compartment for 6 batteries. Moreover, as far as I understood empirically, 3 pieces are enough for work, and 2 go for an additional reserve.

Software, configuration and capabilities
Like most Xiaomi smart home devices, the call is controlled using the official MiHome app. press + in the menu and add Xiaomi Video Doorbell 2. Pre-press the reset button on the call for 3 seconds
After that, you need to scan the generated code with the call camera and the device will be added to your list of smart devices.
We call our device and choose its location.
Now it’s time to pair the ringer with the room speaker. To do this, hold the button on the speaker for three seconds until the characteristic “beep” and press the call button.
The main window of the plug-in will display a preview of the video from the peephole camera, motion notifications and other alarms. Above you can select the desired date and what to display. In the lower part there are two buttons — real-time video (activated after pressing the call button. The second button is the face manager, where we can upload the faces of relatives and friends and the AI system will determine who came to you.
You can either take a photo of yourself or another person, or add a photo from the phone gallery.
There are a lot of settings, from volume mode and melody to automation and other notifications.
In the speaker settings, you can select the sound of the ringtone, set its volume, and also choose the time when you are not disturbed. This completes the speaker settings, go to the ringer settings.
The ringtone and its volume on the call can be adjusted separately.

The call lacks the ability to install a memory card, so it writes all the records to the Chinese cloud. And this is where the main problems begin, since the cloud is either very slow for “ours” or a large Chinese firewall banally blocks recording. During the tests, only a couple of times I was able to record video to the cloud, but I could not view it …
The same is true when watching online video, after pressing the call button. At 99.99%, the stream is loading, and at 90% the connection is broken. Only once did I get to see someone calling me there.
But at the same time, notifications to the phone about pressing a button come quickly and regularly.
Like most Xiaomi smart home devices, there is the possibility of various automation and scripts.
Conclusion
In general, at the moment, if you do not live in China, I cannot recommend this call for purchase. The functionality and potential of the call is quite extensive, but due to Chinese data storage servers, unfortunately, ours is not operational. It is easier and cheaper to make your own smart call, with the ability to open a gate based on a camera, a door opening sensor, and which will be able to withstand subzero temperatures.
