Within this review, the IMILAB V1 robot vacuum cleaner will be considered. IMILAB is a Xiaomi sub-brand and is more specialized in the production of video cameras, intercoms and other devices that relate to the smart home security system. This robot vacuum cleaner is the first in the company’s lineup and sales will start from the end of August. The price at the start of sales is about $ 400. A link to purchase and a promotional code for a small discount are posted at the end of the review. For that kind of money, the device is equipped with a self-cleaning base, lidar and even a wet cleaning function. Next, I will test IMILAB V1 in detail, after which I will express my own opinion whether it is worth buying this robot vacuum cleaner. So let’s go!
The robot vacuum cleaner came in such a branded box:
It comes with:
- Wet cleaning nozzle with pre-installed microfiber cloth.
- A set of disposable wipes (10 pcs.).
- 4 spare bags for the station, with one bag already installed inside.
- Spare side brush.
- Instruction manual in English.
It is important to note that the instruction itself contains a QR code to go to the page with the electronic version of the instruction in several languages, including English.
In general, the package bundle is not bad, only a spare HEPA filter in the kit is missing.
Now let’s take a look at the appearance of IMILAB V1. Surely many see the similarities with the Roidmi Eve Plus and Lydsto R1 , which I had previously reviewed. Indeed, the robot is very similar to them, but still it is not a complete double of one or the second robot. Now let’s figure out what the difference is.
The robot vacuum cleaner itself is made in white and does not look different from the Lydsto R1 . The mechanical bumper has 2 wall sensors on different sides and an obstacle sensor in the center.
The charging terminals are housed in an aligned container, not in the robot body. Case height 98 mm.
The control panel has 2 mechanical buttons: start / pause and forced return to the base for charging. Lidar is equipped with a mechanical button that protects the robot from getting stuck under furniture.

The combined bin is designed to hold 300 ml of dry waste and 250 ml of water, according to the manufacturer. Although the container does not differ from the one installed in the Lydsto R1 and there is declared a capacity of up to 250 ml of dry waste and up to 200 ml of water. But this information is already on the conscience of the manufacturer.
The trash compartment has a triple filtration system based on a mesh, foam and HEPA filter. A pump is installed in the water tank. Water enters the napkin through 3 holes in the nozzle.
Let’s see how the IMILAB V1 is arranged from below. Again, there are no differences from the Lydsto R1. Fitted with 4 fall protection sensors, one side brush and a central bristly-petal brush that can be disassembled to clean coiled hair and wool.

But the base for self-cleaning is different from the one that comes with the Lydsto R1. At first glance, it is exactly identical to the Roidmi EVE Plus , but it has its own peculiarities. The most important thing is the place where the robot is docked with the base. It’s not as ugly as Lydsto’s, but still not as deep as Roidmi’s. Although the robot is still more compactly located at the station.

Those. the solution is an average between two similar bases. There is an LED display on the body, which displays the status of the robot and the battery charge level.
As a result, IMILAB V1 is constructively something between Roidmi Eve Plus and Lydsto R1. Roughly speaking, he took the base from Roidmi and the Lydsto corps. The build quality is the same, average.

In general, the characteristics are quite standard and at the level of analogs.
I’ll tell you about the main features of IMILAB V1. A test sample came to my review from the factory, which is controlled through the Mi Home app, but only through European countries. To connect the robot, I had to select the UK region, respectively, the application interface in English. The manufacturer claims that when the robot goes on sale, it will be able to connect to other regions, while English language will also be available. In theory, even a English voice package will be added to the robot.
On the main operating panel, IMILAB V1 builds a room map, automatically zones it into rooms and saves the map in memory. Of the main features, it is important to highlight the automatic increase in power on carpets, do not disturb mode. You can set up a cleaning schedule by choosing the time, days of the week, suction power, and even the rooms you want to clean.

It also provides volume control, a choice of the frequency of self-cleaning, viewing the cleaning log, tracking the status of consumables, manual control of the robot and the choice of the suction power, as well as the level of water supply to the napkin. Well, if necessary, you can change the name of the robot and update the firmware version.
IMILAB V1 supports the installation of virtual walls and restricted areas on the map. Moreover, you can even set separate forbidden zones for the wet cleaning mode. Well, if necessary, you can set cleaning zones on the map, direct the robot vacuum cleaner to the desired point for cleaning, or select rooms for cleaning.

Let’s move on to the tests. The first step is to check the IMILAB V1 navigation in the obstacle room. First, the robot vacuum cleaner passes the room around the perimeter, after which it cleans the entire available area with a snake. On the legs of the dryer, he did not get stuck, he separately swept around the box and the legs of the chair. The test is valid.

When it comes to navigating within the entire home, there are also no complaints about the robot. He cleaned the entire area, room by room. There are no uncleared areas left, navigation is good.

The suction power corresponds to the declared 2700 Pa. The robot was able to suck out debris from only a 2 mm gap, like most of its counterparts. This power will be enough for living conditions, especially if there are no fluffy carpets.

The quality of dry cleaning on laminate is also above average. There is only a little debris left in the corners, from which round robots cannot sweep. But the bulk of the garbage was collected and the robot coped well with this task.

When it comes to cleaning carpets, this is no problem either. IMILAB V1 is good at cleaning carpets from hair, wool and other debris.
Dried dirt can be scrubbed off hard surfaces with this robotic vacuum cleaner. At the same time, there are no divorces. There is only a small area along the plinth that the robot is unable to wipe, like its counterparts.
But in general, the quality of wet cleaning is above average, besides, IMILAB V1 is capable of simultaneously vacuuming and washing the floor, this is a plus

But IMILAB V1 is afraid of dark coatings, like most other robots of the Xiaomi family. This is important to consider.

The noise level at the minimum power is about 58-60 dB, in the standard mode it reaches 62 dB, at the average power the noise level reaches 71 dB, and in the maximum mode the peak value was 73.6 dB. Yes, the noise level is above average.

And finally, let’s check how well IMILAB V1 self-cleans. The dust container is filled with rubbish of different structure. So from the first time the robot was almost completely self-cleaning, after restarting the self-cleaning there was even less debris.

I have no complaints about the self-cleaning quality of this model. It should be noted, though, that Roidmi and Lydsto did not perform as well. Perhaps a matter of chance, but it is important to note that the IMILAB V1 station is 100 W more powerful than the Roidmi and 50 W weaker than the Lydsto.
IMILAB V1 has been reviewed and tested in detail. According to our rating system, he managed to score 70 out of 100 points , which is 1 point more than Lydsto R1, but 8 points less than Roidmi Eve Plus. But overall, the result is above average, given the price.
Of the advantages, I would like to highlight:
- Good navigation.
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- Self-cleaning of stations.
- All advanced functionality in the application.
- The quality of cleaning is above average.
- The robot will automatically increase its power when driving onto carpets.
- Good obstacle passability.
- Optimal price considering the possibilities.
The disadvantages that we managed to find during testing are that:
- The robot is afraid of dark floor coverings.
- The noise level is above average.
The comments are not so critical in my opinion. The only thing that can still raise doubts is the experience of operating the Roidmi Eve Plus and Lydsto R1 twins and, of course, not the most positive reviews about these robots. After several months of operation, they have all sorts of problems, most often they complain about navigation and the failure of the water supply system. Since IMILAB V1 has just gone on sale and there are no reviews about it, it is therefore not clear whether the sores of the twins were solved by the manufacturer. During testing, I did not notice anything suspicious. So in the end, I have no special complaints about the robot, it coped with most of the tests and left a good impression of itself, but how this model will behave in a few months is not yet clear. Hope history doesn’t repeat itself. Whether to buy a robot or not is up to you! For that kind of money, there are not so many options that there was both a lidar and a self-cleaning function at the base. But we all know perfectly well that the miser pays twice.
