Next, I will test this robot vacuum cleaner in detail, after which I will express my own opinion whether it is worth buying. The difference between Dreame Bot D9 Pro and D9 Max
First of all, I will explain how the new Dreame Bot D9 Pro differs from the previously released Dreame Bot D9 Max. The difference is not big, but it is there. All the main differences are summarized in the table:

As you can see, the updated Dreame Bot D9 Pro received several small design improvements. But the price difference can be significant. Therefore, with a small difference, it still makes sense to choose an updated model. Now let’s go directly to the review of this robot vacuum cleaner.

Consider how the Dreame Bot D9 Pro works. It is round in shape, black, glossy. A wall sensor is installed on the right side of the bumper, and an obstacle detection sensor is located in the center. Case height – 97 mm from the floor.

Lidar is responsible for navigation. It is equipped with a spring-loaded cover that prevents the robot from getting stuck under furniture. There are 3 mechanical control buttons on the panel.

Functionality
Consider the functionality of Dreame Bot D9 Pro. The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled through the Mi Home app of the Xiaomi ecosystem. The application interface is in English, connecting the robot to a Wi-Fi network did not cause problems.
On the main working panel, the robot vacuum cleaner builds a map of the room and automatically zones it into rooms. Three modes of operation are displayed under the map. In the room mode, you can select the desired rooms, the sequence of their cleaning and the number of passes: 1 or 2. In automatic mode, the robot cleans the entire available area. In the “Zone” mode, you can set rectangular cleaning zones and the number of passes on the map.

In the map management section, we see that Dreame Bot D9 Pro is able to save multiple maps in memory. When working with the map, you can edit the boundaries of the room and give names to these rooms. In addition, restricted areas and virtual walls can be set on the map. And even separate restricted areas for wet cleaning.

Let’s go to the settings section. In the device settings, it first prompts you to adjust the volume of voice alerts and select their language. Dreame Bot D9 Pro speaks English.
In addition, you can enable notifications to your smartphone, the function of automatically increasing power when driving on carpets, resuming cleaning after recharging at the base, setting the do not disturb mode and the frequency of reminders to rinse the napkin manually during cleaning.
Of the additional settings, it is proposed to adjust the suction power, the level of water supply to the napkin, as well as set up scheduled cleaning by selecting the time, days of the week, the desired rooms and cleaning parameters, view the cleaning log, track the status of consumables, switch to manual control mode and turn on the robot search by sound signal. Also, if necessary, you can change the name of the robot, share control with other users and update the firmware version to a more recent one.

Let’s move on to the tests. First of all, let’s check the Dreame Bot D9 Pro navigation in the obstacle room. First, the robot vacuum cleaner passes the perimeter of the room. It didn’t get stuck on the dryer, which is a plus. After passing the perimeter, the robot starts cleaning the entire available area with a snake, after which it again passes the perimeter and cleans with a snake in a perpendicular direction. He was able to sweep around the legs of the chair and the box, although the touch to the objects is not very soft and the robot moved them. However, the test passed successfully.

As for navigation within the whole house, the robot passes room by room, first along the perimeter, then in a snake. The cleaning speed is high, there are no uncleaned areas left. Navigation is good for this model!

Dreame Bot D9 Pro has a suction power of 4000 Pa. So the robot vacuum cleaner was able to suck out debris from cracks up to 8 mm deep, like the previously released D9 Max. A 10 mm gap was too much for him, although the older Dreame Bot L10 Pro was able to partially suck out debris from a 10 mm deep gap. It is not clear what is the reason, because. constructively, the robots are identical. In any case, the robot in question is very powerful!

The quality of dry cleaning on the laminate also pleased. The robot vacuum cleaner was able to remove all debris from the floor, including wool and hair. Only the corners remained uncleaned, which is a problem with most round robots.

Some of the hair is wrapped around the side and center brushes, but most of the debris is still collected in the dust box. This test passed successfully!

The quality of cleaning on the carpet is high, the robot was able to collect all the garbage, carefully cleaning the carpet with brushes, I have no complaints.

The quality of wiping off dirt is at the level of other robots in the Dreame line. The robot was able to wipe the dried dirt from the floor. A small area with a dirty streak was left along the baseboard, and minor streaks were found, as well as traces of dirt. Wet cleaning is not the Dreame Bot D9 Pro’s forte, however, it will be enough to automatically keep the house clean!

In addition, it is important to note that this robot vacuum cleaner is able to vacuum and mop the floor at the same time, although the water supply is not too plentiful!

As for wet cleaning in the presence of carpets, Dreame Bot D9 Pro recognizes carpets, but does it with a slight delay, so it still drives onto the carpet with a napkin completely, after which the function works and it moves off the carpet. So it is better to protect carpets with separate restricted areas for the wet cleaning regime.

The patency of obstacles in this model is good. The robot vacuum cleaner moves over 2 cm of the threshold without any problems, even with the wet nozzle installed. This is a plus.

But Dreame Bot D9 Pro is afraid of black coatings, recognizing them as height differences. This is important to consider.

Noise level
And finally, we measure the noise level of the robot in different modes. At the minimum suction power, the noise level is about 60-62 dB, at medium power, the figure is in the range of 64 dB. In the intensive cleaning mode, the noise level reaches 66 dB, and in the Turbo mode, the peak value was 74.5 dB. Yes, this robot vacuum cleaner is noisy, but it is important to understand that the suction power is high, which is the reason for the increased noise level.

Summing up
Dreame Bot D9 Pro has been reviewed and tested in detail. On our rating system, it managed to score 73 out of 100 , the same as the D9 Max, which is an excellent result for a mid-range robot vacuum cleaner. Both robots showed the same result in cleaning quality and similar functionality. Minor design changes did not particularly affect anything and, accordingly, are not taken into account in the evaluation algorithm.
I will share my own opinion about Dreame Bot D9 Pro after testing. Liked the following:
- Good navigation.
- High suction power.
- Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
- Good dry cleaning performance on both hard floors and carpets.
- All basic functionality in the application.
- Good obstacle clearance.
- High build quality.
Speaking about the shortcomings, or rather even comments, I would like to highlight the not very high-quality wet cleaning and the fear of dark floor coverings. However, if you choose a powerful robot vacuum cleaner with good navigation for dry cleaning and carpet cleaning, I recommend paying attention to this model. Well, or, on Dreame Bot D9 Max, if the price difference is significant.
