Comparison Baseus DGIWK-01 vs DGIWK-B02 Screenbar Lamps

Comparison of Baseus i-wok Series DGIWK-01 & DGIWK-B02 Screenbar Lamps 2022: highlighting the working area 2022. Not so long ago, Beseus presented to the market an updated model of a screen-bar lamp (model – DGIWK-B02) to illuminate a workplace in front of a computer. The main difference from its predecessor (model – DGIWK-01) is in the method of mounting on the monitor, reducing stray light, as well as reducing consumption with increased brightness. In general, the update turned out to be interesting, so it would be logical to compare both lamps visually.

Before acquaintance, I will explain the essence of this device. The Baseus screenbar lamp is designed to be installed on the top of the monitor and allows you to illuminate the working area in front of the monitor for comfortable work. Initially, I was skeptical about this device due to the dynamic Ambilight display and keyboard backlighting. But real exploitation suggests otherwise.

So, let’s move on to an overview of the comparison of the previous and updated versions of the screenbar lamp.

First, let’s get acquainted with the first version of Baseus i-wok Series DGIWK-01, so that the narration would be as logical as possible. The factory packaging is a rectangular box with a transparent front.

On the back, we can observe the installation location on the monitor, the approximate light spot on the working area and technical characteristics.

Package contents: screen-bar lamp, USB-typeC power cable, instruction manual.

The screenbar lamp is a longitudinal lamp with a movable hinge. In the front part of the “tube” there is a matte diffuser, on the right is the only control presented in the form of a selector.
This lamp has the ability to shine with 3 color temperatures: 2800K, 4000K, 5500K. The change of modes is carried out by a single pressing of the button at the end of the lamp. Long press turns off or on the lamp. Brightness adjustment is carried out using a selector at the end of the lamp.

The hinge has 2 movable points for easy positioning above the monitor. Therefore, the first generation of the lamp does not really matter what shape the monitor will be.

On the back there is a typeC port for powering the lamp. We will talk about consumption in one mode or another later.

The massive base has a rubberized platform with brief characteristics and other information.

Let’s move on to the tests. Consumption in different modes 2800, 4000, 5500K at minimum and maximum brightness.

  • 2800K – 5V / 0.11A and 5V / 0.9A
  • 4000K – 5V / 0.11A and 5V / 0.86A
  • 5500K – 5V / 0.11A and 5V / 0.9A

The next test is the brightness level of the working area. To do this, we place the light meter at a distance of 40 cm from the lamp and make control measurements at the minimum and maximum brightness in different modes 2800, 4000, 5500K.

  • 2800K – 35LUX and 458LUX
  • 4000K – 39LUX and 458LUX
  • 5500K – 35LUX and 409LUX

Measurements of the case temperature after an hour of operation do not exceed 26 ° C, which makes it clear that the LEDs are well cooled.

The next test will be to check for the presence of PWM at the minimum and maximum brightness of the lamp. This test is performed using a camera, phone camcorder or pencil. The result is that the DGIWK-01 lamp is not subject to pulse width modulation. It makes no sense to show static images.

The final test of the monitor illumination with the lamp installed at minimum and maximum brightness. As you can see, at maximum brightness, the light spot on the monitor is more visible. Also, this type of lamp illuminates well all the dust on the monitor, plus or minus, it’s up to you.

As an intermediate result, the Baseus i-wok Series DGIWK-01 lamp has good brightness for illuminating the working area in front of the computer, does not have pulse width modulation, and is not subject to strong heating during prolonged use. There are also no questions about the hinge, its movable parts allow you to install the mount on different monitors. Not without a minus, namely, the backlight of the monitor at the top.

An updated version of the Baseus i-wok Series screen lamp, model DGIWK-B02. The first thing that catches your eye is the updated packaging that has grown in size.

The method of fastening and the general meaning of work is also illustrated on the reverse side. Specifications:

  • Manufacturer: Baseus
  • Material: aluminum alloy + PC + ABS
  • Voltage: 5V
  • Power: 5W (max.)
  • Color temperature: 2800K / 4000K / 5500K (white, warm, and mixed light)
  • CRI:> 80
  • Dimensions: 450 * 92 * 66mm
  • USB powered
  • Weight: 480 gr

The complete set is identical to the previous lamp: the lamp itself, a set of a warranty card and instructions, a USB-typeC wire.

The form factor of the lamp has not undergone significant changes, except for the modified platform and the method of mounting on the monitor.

Instead of the brightness control selector in the previous version, Baseus made a touch pad with separate adjustment elements: change the brightness, change the color temperature, turn on / off. The responsiveness is not the most accurate, you have to press a little on the sites. If you hold the brightness change pad for a long time, the brightness decreases smoothly, so choosing the optimal value is not difficult.

The angle of inclination of the LEDs remained unnamed, as well as the presence of LEDs of 3 colors: 2800, 4000, 5500K. The alternation goes through one. Compared to the previous version, the matte diffuser has become more transparent.

As for the site, it has also undergone changes. It now consists of a single hinge with a fairly strong spring inside. The typeC charging connector also remained in its place.

The base of the lamp is still massive and contains some information.

The testing procedure remains the same, so we start with consumption in various modes at minimum and maximum brightness.

  • 2800K – 5V / 0.15A and 5V / 0.66A
  • 4000K – 5V / 0.07A and 5V / 0.63A
  • 5500K – 5V / 0.067A and 5V / 0.66A

The next test is the brightness level of the working area. To do this, we place the light meter at a distance of 40 cm from the lamp and make control measurements at the minimum and maximum brightness in different modes 2800, 4000, 5500K.

  • 2800K – 262LUX and 555LUX
  • 4000K – 64LUX and 286LUX
  • 5500K – 68LUX and 637LUX

Measurements of the temperature of the case after an hour of operation do not exceed 26 ° C, which makes it clear about the good cooled LEDs. With reduced lamp consumption, the case temperature remained unchanged.

The next test will be to check for the presence of PWM at the minimum and maximum brightness of the lamp. And as with the first lamp, the DGIWK-B02 is not subject to pulse width modulation at minimum and maximum brightness at any color temperature.

Final test of the monitor backlight with the lamp installed. At minimum brightness, a small spot of light is visible only in the upper part of the monitor, while it is noticeable only against a black background.

As an intermediate result, the Baseus i-wok Series DGIWK-B02 lamp has lower consumption, a higher level of brightness, there is also no PWM in all modes, the design of the monitor mount has changed, but it remains the same “cold” as its predecessor.

For a more visual comparison of the two lamps, let’s draw up a table in which we note all the features and the data obtained.

In the final, I would like to note the high-quality manufacture of both DGIWK-01 (old) and DGIWK-B02 (new) lamps, nevertheless, Baseus is associated with just such products among buyers and it coped with the task. Which lamp to choose, the old one with mechanical control or the new one with a touchscreen, of course the buyer should choose. On my own behalf, I just want to add that in the review I tried to answer all possible questions regarding the lamps and if there is anything to add, I ask in the comments.
