Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra Review: Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Review Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra is one of the junior models in the manufacturer’s line 2022. At a cost of about $ 220, the robot is equipped with a gyroscope for navigation, the function of dry and wet cleaning, control both through a mobile application and from the remote control, as well as a complete package. In addition, the device boasts a floor polisher mode during wet cleaning and a fairly compact height – about 7 cm from the floor. At first glance, the Conga 1790 Ultra has its own characteristics, thanks to which it can compete with similar gyroscope robots . You just need to figure out how well everything works and whether the robot vacuum cleaner copes with its main task. This is what we will do now. Gyroscope, polisher mode, low body height. So let’s go!

Appearance

Now let’s look at how the Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra works. It is round in shape, color is black, the top panel is glossy. Case height 73 mm from the floor.

The dust container is removed from the back. It holds up to 500 ml of dry debris. Filtration system based on a mesh, foam rubber and HEPA filter. This is a plus!

Instead of a separate waste container, you can install a combined container with a water tank. The tank holds up to 300 ml of water. The napkin consists of two separated parts: water is supplied to one, the second part collects the remaining liquid from the floor. The napkin is attached to the base with Velcro and elastic bands. Water enters the napkin through 4 valves. Electronic adjustment of water supply is provided. This is a plus! Capacity of a compartment for garbage of 200 ml. Triple filtration system: mesh, foam rubber and HEPA.

Unfortunately, the filters are slightly different in size for the combined and separate containers. So they would be interchangeable, which is more logical.

Let’s see how the Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra is built from the bottom. There are 3 fall protection sensors under the bumper. There are two side brushes: they are three-beam, quick-detachable.

The robot comes with two frames: with and without partitions. So here the point is that the frame with partitions is used only when the bristle-petal brush is installed. She pinches the rubber brush, be careful. Both central brushes are non-separable, which is not very good.

In general, the build quality of the robot vacuum cleaner is average. There are advantages and disadvantages.

Functionality

Let’s move on to an overview of the functions of the Conga 1790 Ultra. The robot vacuum cleaner is controlled both through a proprietary mobile application and from the remote control. First, let’s look at the functionality of the application. The robot connects to a Wi-Fi network quite simply, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Unfortunately, at the moment the application interface is in English. But in the near future, brand representatives promise to Russify the application.

On the main working panel, the robot vacuum cleaner builds a map of the room in real time. But note that this map is not stored in memory. A number of functions are displayed under the map. The first, leftmost button is responsible for the forced return to the base for charging. Next, it is proposed to choose one of 7 cleaning modes: automatic, chaotic, perimeter, spot, cleaning one room, floor polisher mode or manual control. In addition, you can adjust the suction power and the degree of wetting of the napkin.

Functions

Under this row of buttons there is a button to start the cleaning process. Below it is another row of buttons. Here you can set up scheduled cleaning by selecting the time, days of the week, cleaning mode and parameters. View the cleaning log, as well as basic information about the robot. By the way, Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra supports voice assistants Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Most of the functions are duplicated on the remote control: setting the current time, forced return to charging, manual control, spot cleaning mode, cleaning time setting, room cleaning mode, perimeter cleaning, as well as adjusting the water supply level and suction power.

Remote control

Remote control

This is all the functionality of a robot vacuum cleaner, and as for a gyroscope robot, it is quite standard.

Testing

A detailed video review of the Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra with all the tests has already been prepared and published on the channel. I recommend watching the video in full:

Let’s move on to the tests. First of all, let’s check the navigation of the Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra in the obstacle room. After leaving the base, the robot vacuum cleaner starts cleaning the entire available area with a snake. Around the box and the legs of the chair, he, of course, does not sweep. Moreover, after the control bypass of the perimeter, he began to clean again in those places where he had already cleaned and, accordingly, drove without stopping until after 30 minutes it was decided to forcibly return him to the base for charging. At least he found the station without any problems on his own. This test failed.

Navigating the Obstacle Room

Navigating the Obstacle Room

As for navigation within the whole house, the situation repeated itself. At first, the robot vacuum cleaner cleaned with a snake, but then in one of the rooms the navigation went astray, and he just started to move from wall to wall cyclically. Apparently, there are some problems with the gyroscope, so it is simply lost over large areas. But then again, when forced to return, he finds the station even from the farthest room.

Navigation within the home

Navigation within the home

In general, navigation would be good for engineers to finalize.

Suction power

Speaking of suction power, with a bristle-petal brush, the robot sucks debris out of only a 2 mm gap, but with a Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra rubber brush, it was able to suck debris out of a gap 4 mm deep. Suction power is increased, despite the standard declared value. This is a plus.

Dry cleaning

The quality of garbage collection on the laminate is clearly above average. The robot vacuum cleaner is able to collect garbage of various structures, and it sweeps even better than other round robots in the corners.

Garbage collection on laminate flooring

Interestingly, the hair is not wound on the central brush, it is wound more on the side brushes. But in any case, the main part of the garbage in the dust collector. Test passed successfully!

Carpet cleaning

Speaking of carpet cleaning, Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra cleans carpets with any of the central brushes. In this regard, I have no complaints about him!

Wet cleaning

But the Conga 1790 can boast of high-quality wiping off a little dried dirt from the floor. After a double passage, there are no traces of dirt and streaks. There is a small narrow area along the baseboard, but this area is not cleaned by all robotic vacuum cleaners. At least the ones that were on the review.

Wet cleaning

Wet cleaning

In addition, it is important to note that the robot vacuum cleaner is able not only to vacuum and mop the floor at the same time, but also to move like a floor polisher, moving back and forth in wet cleaning mode. This is a big plus for the robot.

Speaking of wet cleaning in the presence of carpets, the robot cleaner does not recognize carpets, so the water supply is not turned off when driving on carpets. I recommend protecting the carpets with the magnetic tape that comes with the kit.

Passability of obstacles

Passability of obstacles is not very good. The two-centimeter thresholds of the robot vacuum cleaner are not able to move. But 1.5 cm is within his power, although not always on the first try.

Drive through dark surfaces

And one more advantage of Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra is that it runs over deep black coatings without any problems. Doesn’t recognize them as elevation changes. This is a plus!

Noise level

Finally, we measure the noise level of the robot in different modes. With the suction turned off, it is in the range of 55-56 dB. In the minimum power mode, the noise level rises to 57 dB. At medium power, this value reaches 58 dB, and in Turbo mode, the peak noise level was 60 dB. We have to admit that this robot vacuum cleaner is quite quiet, with slightly above average suction power.

Summing up

Cecotec Conga 1790 Ultra has been reviewed and tested in detail. According to our evaluation system, he managed to score 49 out of 100 points . This is quite a standard result for a robot vacuum cleaner with a gyroscope.

I will share my own opinion about the robot after a detailed review and testing. Liked the following:

  1. Simultaneous dry and wet cleaning.
  2. Increased suction power.
  3. High quality cleaning.
  4. Small body height.
  5. App and remote control.
  6. Complete set, which includes a magnetic tape and a replaceable central brush.
  7. The robot vacuum cleaner is not afraid of dark coatings.
  8. The polisher mode is provided.
  9. Low noise level.
  10. Availability of warranty and service.

As for the shortcomings, I had the following complaints about the robot:

  1. There are navigation problems.
  2. Weak permeability.
  3. The central brushes are not collapsible.
  4. The price is above average.

The main remark is just for navigation. If it wasn’t for the gyroscope issues, I would definitely be more impressed with this robot. And so, at the moment I can recommend this robot vacuum cleaner for cleaning small areas without a complex layout in order to minimize navigational disruptions. Although, it is possible that the problem is with my robot and others will not have a similar situation. Who uses this robot vacuum cleaner, please write in the comments how it behaves in your conditions.
